ACuZincTM 5 Zinc Alloy

Hot chamber pressure diecasting Zinc alloy.

AcuZinc 5 is hot chamber pressure diecasting zinc base alloy developed by GM for specific applications. Brock Metal Company manufacture this alloy under licence and are able to advise on the use of the alloy and its special properties.

Application

This alloy has been specifically designed to extend the performance range of pressure zinc diecast applications. The higher copper levels present in this alloy increase strength, hardness and rigidity and improve overall performance at higher service temperatures than the traditional zinc alloys ZL 3 and 5. The use of this alloy should be confined to where these specific properties are essential. Typical applications include screws, cams, gears, actuating levers and pivot arms. AcuZinc 5 will accept similar finishing methods to the traditional zinc alloy range.

When designing a stressed component using AcuZinc further reference should be made to the alloys properties, at elevated temperatures, after natural or artificial ageing and the alloys creep properties.
