Categories of Zinc Scrap

Sealed containers will not be accepted

Z1. FRAGMENTED ZINC

Material to yield a minimum of 65% hard Zinc metal. Must not contain trash, dirt, rubber and excessive oil. Balance to include other non-ferrous metals with a maximum Iron content of 5%.

Z2. IRONY ZINC

Miscellaneous new and old Zinc castings with other foreign attachments such as Aluminium components. Must be free of borings, turnings etc. Iron content usually up to 30%.

Z3. IRONY ZINC CARBURETTORS & PUMPS

New and old Zinc carburettors and pumps with other foreign attachments such as Aluminium components. Must be free of borings, turnings etc. Iron content usually a maximum of 50%.

Z4. 94% REMELT INGOT

Typical analysis:

Zn 90% minimum.
Cu 1.5% maximum.
Al 4% - 7%.
Cd .02% maximum.
Pb 1.5% maximum.

All other elements to be less than 0.2%.

Z5. DIECASTER'S DROSS LUMPS

Shall consist of metal skimmed from the top of molten Zinc Die-Cast metal. Must be unsweated, unfluxed, shiny, smooth, metallic and fee of corrosion or oxidation. Should be poured in moulds or in small moulds weighing not over 30 kg's each. Zinc shall be a minimum of 85%.

Z6. ZINC ASH / PROCESSED DROSS

Sweated or fluxed die cast alloy.

Z7. ZINC SWARF

Clean, machined turnings from Zinc Die-cast Alloy. Must be free of other non-ferrous metals, grindings and scale. Significant amounts of oil and grease cannot be tolerated and such contaminated loads will be rejected.

Z8. OLD ROOFING ZINC (LOOSE & BALED)

Zinc sheet and flashings used on roofs. May contain up to 3% tar.

Z9. NEW PRODUCTION ZINC CUTTINGS & PRINTERS PLATE

Shall consist of new, pure Zinc sheets, stampings. Must be free from corrosion. To contain no foreign material or attachments. May also include "Printers Plate" such as Lithographic sheets and Addressoplates. Printers' Zinc to be free from routings.

Z10.NEW PRODUCTION CLEAN CASTINGS

Shall consist of new or unused clean Zinc base die-castings or sprues. Must be unplated, unpainted and free from corrosion and extraneous materials.

Z11.NEW PRODUCTION PAINTED CASTINGS

Shall consist of new or unused Zinc base die-castings or sprues. Must be unplated, and free from corrosion and extraneous materials.

Z12.NEW PRODUCTION PLATED CASTINGS

Shall consist of new or unused plated Zinc base die-castings or sprues. Must be from corrosion and extraneous materials.

Z13.COLLECTED ZINC

Miscellaneous Zinc die-castings. Must be free of borings, turnings etc. May contain up to 5% Aluminium and Iron combined.

Z14.KIRKSITE BLOCKS & SHOES MOULDS

Zinc alloys used in the aircraft, footwear and other industries. Size and analysis, of moulds to be advised. Material over 2000 Kg's or larger than 5 x 3 feet will only be accepted by prior arrangement.
